Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The primary objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s goal. The game is predominantly played with the feet, hence the name, although players may use their heads and torsos to control the ball.

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which are maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport is popular worldwide and has various forms, with association football (known as soccer in some countries) being the most widely played and recognized version. Other forms include American football, rugby football, and Canadian football, each with its own distinct set of rules and style of play.

The term “football” can refer to different types of games depending on the region; for instance, in most countries, it refers to soccer, while in the United States and Canada, it refers to American football. The sport has a significant cultural and social impact, being a major source of entertainment and community identity in many regions.
